To secure the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination a candidate needs support from 2,118 delegates or superdelegates at the Democratic National Convention. Delegates are allocated to candidates based on votes in primaries and caucuses. Superdelegates, comprised of party leaders and elected officials, can endorse any candidate they choose.
