A campaign flier that says it presents Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's record when he was governor of Arkansas has popped up in South Carolina.

The flier says it is sponsored by a group called "Lynchburg Christian Students for the Truth."

Internet searches for the group's name did not produce any further information.

Huckabee was in Lynchburg two weeks ago, picking up the support of Jerry Falwell Jr. after speaking to students at Liberty University, where Falwell is chancellor.

The flier also lists the phone number in Arkansas for Betsy Hagan, president of that state's conservative Eagle Forum chapter. "I deny any connection to this group," Hagan said. "I don't know anything about them. I never gave anyone permission to use my name or phone number."

Hagan, nevertheless, said she's an authority on Huckabee's record while he was governor from 1997-2007, and disliked his actions on education, immigration, taxes, and capital punishment.

The flier's first topic is the Arkansas parole board's 1999 release of Wayne DuMond, a convicted rapist who shortly after his release attacked and killed a woman in Missouri. The flier provides Internet links to several news articles about whether Huckabee had a role in the release, and poses a question about whether he has lied about that role.

The flier was stuck on car windshields outside a campaign event in Greenville, S.C., on Saturday, according to CNN News. South Carolina Republicans hold their presidential primary election on Jan. 19.

CNN reported that a similar flier showed up in Iowa, stuck under the hotel room doors of reporters covering that state's caucuses. The Iowa flier says it is sponsored by a group called "Iowans for Some Semblance of Christian Decency."

The Iowa Republican caucus is scheduled for Jan. 3.
