Rep. J. Randy Forbes is in his fifth term representing Virginia’s 4th District, which includes Chesapeake, Petersburg and parts of Richmond.
Forbes, 57, is the top Republican on the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee, which oversees the Base Realignment and Closure process. Valedictorian of the class of 1974 at Randolph-Macon College, he is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. He served in the Virginia General Assembly from 1989 to 2001, spending the last seven years in the State Senate.
A longtime Baptist Sunday school teacher, Forbes founded the Congressional Prayer Caucus, which is a group of 49 members designed to recognize the role prayer plays in Congress and the country.
