COLUMBIA, S.C. – With South Carolina’s Republican presidential primary come and gone, the Democratic candidates began a final week of campaigning in the state Sunday.
In a speech in Columbia Sunday night, Sen. Barack Obama set the tone for what is likely to become a bruising final push to woo South Carolina Democrats.
Speaking to a crowd of several thousand supporters, Obama lashed out at Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, using harsher words than he has in the past week.
He accused both – by name – of distorting his record, and attempted to tag Hillary Clinton as Washington insider. (See video at right).
Today, Obama, Clinton and former Sen. John Edwards are slated to march in a Martin Luther King Day parade from an African-American church to the statehouse in Columbia.
Tonight, the three candidates are set to debate in Myrtle Beach, the final head-to-head meeting before the primary on Saturday, Jan. 26.
