Welcome to You’re the Pundit. Here is where we start a conversation. It’s your turn. Share your ideas, ask questions and answer them.

Every week we post a question ripped from the news pages. Hit us with your best shot—of opinion—or react to someone else’s views. Either way, help us think through the issues of the day.

Let’s keep it civil—and have some fun.

This week’s question: Most polls show the United States’ popularity has declined in the last five years.  What should we do to be better liked around the world?

We shouldn’t worry about being better liked. Right now we’re well liked by people who were behind the Iron Curtain, by those who are free in Iraq. How many people have come from Mexico in the last 20 years, either legally or illegally?

If we do something to be better liked by one group, the group that likes us now will lose respect for us. It’s better to be consistent, and opinion will come around.
