Oh Brother, McCain and the Commies

In remarks now making the rounds on the Web (watch/listen below), Joe McCain, John McCain's brother declared Northern Virginia "communist country."

At a rally Saturday in Leesburg, McCain talked about the importance of Virginia, but said the Republican presidential campaign told him not to call any one place "critical" to his brother's electoral success.

"I've lived here for at least 10 years and before that about every third duty I was in either Arlington or Alexandria, up in communist country," said Joe McCain, a Navy veteran. He immediately apologized as the crowd laughed.

The lefty blog Raising Kaine has fun with the communist mention here, considering John McCain's campaign headquarters and one of his main residences is in Arlington.
