Georgia’s Senate contest

It’s official: Former state lawmaker Jim Martin will face off this fall against Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.Martin won a runoff election Tuesday night against Dekalb County CEO Vernon Jones with 59 percent of the vote.
Martin and Jones were the top two among five candidates in an initial primary, but neither received the required 50 percent.
Now Martin faces an uphill road against the better funded incumbent Chambliss.
