Fla. Guv Crist, Sen. Martinez To Give GOP Convention Speeches

WASHINGTON -- Both Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez will give speeches at the 2008 Republican National Convention prior to John McCain's presidential nomination acceptance speech Sept. 4, the convention planners have announced.

But the news seems to signal, once and for all, that Crist is no longer being considered as a potential McCain running mate.

The schedule notes that McCain’s vice presidential pick will speak Wednesday night.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty also is scheduled to speak that night, along with Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas.
