The vice presidential nominees' debate is over. America is built on the idea that the person who is most qualified and works hardest wins. Is that proving true in this election or is the measure fading?
Palin's debate performance tonight may be judged a success simply because she didn't embarrass herself. And, ironically, the performance of Joe Biden may be seen as less than impressivre because he was careful not to offend. He played it safe.
It was probably good politically for Biden that he refrained from direct criticism of Palin, but I think Americans would benefit from seeing how she reacts to tough questioning. People need to know that before Nov. 4.
