WASHINGTON – The National Black Republicans’ Association is seeking contributions to help it put up 50 “Martin Luther King Jr., was a Republican” billboards in Denver, which it says will be similar to a billboard already located in Sarasota County, along US-41 near Venice.
Hoping to get the signs posted for the Democratic National Convention that starts Aug. 25, the money raised would go toward the group’s publication of “The Black Republican” magazine, airing of radio and TV ads, and “training community leaders to carry our conservative message into the black community.”
“This is a campaign like no other,” explains an e-mail solicitation being sent out today by the group.
“Arrogant is the word for Obama, a far left-winger, who is attempting to assume the mantle of Dr. King by giving his political acceptance speech on the anniversary of Dr. King's ‘I Have a Dream’ inspirational civil rights speech,” the message goes on.
“History shows that Dr. King was a minister who embraced the traditional values that made our country great. Obama has the most liberal voting record in the US Senate. Obama is no MLK,” the message says.
