WASHINGTON – Sen. Bill Nelson says he doesn’t know who Barack Obama will announce as his running mate.
But Florida’s Democratic U.S. senator says that in recent appearances and discussions with the Illinois senator, he’s made two suggestions.
“My recommendation to Barack has been Sen. (Hillary) Clinton and Sen. (Joseph) Biden. I told him that from my Florida perspective, that would help him in Florida,” said Nelson, in an interview.
Nelson had backed New York Sen. Clinton over Obama during the Democratic presidential primary. Nelson also serves on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, which Biden of Delaware chairs.
Nelson said he doesn’t have any hint from Obama about who he will pick.
